Let’s get down to what it takes

I want to express gratitude to those who have followed along and who have written to me. I am still receiving quite a few emails a day as more and more people become aware of what I’m doing. I can’t say I know where this is going, but I’m trying to do my best to keep up. I also want to apologize to those who are still waiting for an answer to their email question or comment.

In order to address this latter issue, I am finding that it is much easier to use a wide brush to answer most questions by doing a chat session or a webinar. To that end, the following Webinar has been recorded and is available to you:

I discuss my experience in training prop employees and how this is applicable to anyone who is trying to trade. We go over the main obstacles they face when it comes to achieving consistency and profitability. We also briefly discuss volume profiles and how best to combine tools to come up with a trading plan. There will be time to address some common question I’m getting.

As a previous commenter said, you’re probably getting tired of all the thanks but I need to tell you that this information really has been invaluable to me – thank you so much for sharing it.

I’ve really been struggling with trading for a while now and it’s not easy to work out on your own what to do..

I think you’ll get what I mean when I say that lately I’ve been asking the universe for some guidance and inspiration and what you’ve shared has really done that for me. I hope that one day I’ll be in a position where I can “pay it forward” and also help others who’re looking for it..

The Auction Theory stuff has been a big eye opener for me but I just wanted to highlight something else you’ve talked about: turning off the display of PnL while trading and just “focusing on making good trades”.

I’ve always been very conscious of how much I was making or losing on a trade and how much I was up or down (mostly down!) for the day. But since turning the PnL off on my order entry app (which still enforces good money management with per trade and daily drawdown limits) and just concentrating on making good trades, I’ve seen a definite improvement in my trading.

Actually, for the first time since I started trading full-time earlier this year, I’ve had a couple of times when I’m “in the zone”. I am now using these times as a basis for meditation/visualisation to try and condition myself.

Lastly, this might be a bit off-topic – and I know you’re not doing all this to recruit or promote your firm – but I’d interested to hear your thoughts on how to go about becoming a professional trader. For example, if you have any tips on how to find a good firm, what kind of track record I’d need before approaching them (or what they look for) and possibly what kind of contract I could expect.

So far, I’ve been trading full-time from home, which is great from a lifestyle point of view but I think there’d be a lot to gain from trading in a professional environment, so it’s something I’m starting to think about (once I’ve become consistently profitable).

Looking forward to hearing the latest webinar. Thanks again..

Hi, is anyone else having trouble opening the webinar wmv file? I've installed the GoToMeeting Codec and have the latest WM Player but Windows Media Player says it cannot open the file. When trying with VLC I can hear the audio but no video so I believe the file downloaded ok but there's some codec issue here.

@ESV: Try right-clicking and saving the file to your Desktop or elsewhere on your computer and then play it from there. It should work fine from there.

    thanks for the helpful video,
can you tell us what it costs to trade 100 shares of stock round trip ( you said it costs around 20 cents for 1 option contract)

Yes I've tried both ways, from within a browser and d/l. After some googling I saw someone recommended GOM Player which worked for me straight away.

Now I just need to finish viewing it, it takes a while when taking notes and really "working" through it 🙂

If you are using Vista, after you download the codec, right click on it and 'run as administrator' to have windows media player play the file correctly.
